Blues Ready to Hit the Coast!

Friday 23rd May 2008

Broadbeach will come alive with the sound of Blues next week when the Blues on Broadbeach
Music Festival kicks off.

Media personalities and VIPs from across the Gold Coast will be entertained by some of the festival
artists at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre where the official launch party will be
held from 6pm Wednesday night. One hundred and fifty VIP and Corporate guests are expected at
the highly anticipated affair which will showcase singer/songwriter Malina Moye for the very first
time in Australia.

Then a magical sight on Thursday the 29th of May– the official opening of the 2008 Blues on
Broadbeach Music Festival will host 500 local primary school students in a moving chorus singing
‘Swing low sweet chariot’ through the Broadbeach Mall. Everyone is invited to see this once in a
lifetime performance which is sure to be utterly breathtaking. The children will meet under the sails
where the festival will be officially opened by Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick.

This year’s festival will be fantastic with so many great acts over so many stages and venues right
across Broadbeach and so many award winning restaurants to keep everyone entertained.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is once again a completely free event so take advantage of
the opportunity to see amazing musical talent without the admission fee.

This year’s headline act will be none other than Australian favourite the Black Sorrows who will be
heading up the main stage at Kurrawa Park on Sunday the 1st of June. Joe Camilleri is one of
Australia's most loved musicians. His band, The Black Sorrows, have sold over a one million albums.
Their last album, Roarin' Town, is intoxicating, joyous and uplifting. It is a bold step forward for an
artist who's never been afraid of change and yet has echoes of Sorrows’ classics.

This is the seventh annual Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival and it has attracted over 200,000
people since it began in 2002 making this a world class event.

Transcending the barriers of age, gender and culture Blues on Broadbeach is one of Australia’s
iconic Blues Festivals. The 2008 festival promises to be the first of its kind, feeding on the unique
village like atmosphere and relaxed ambience that is Broadbeach.

The Blues on Broadbeach Music festival nurtures Australian Blues talent as well as provides a stage
for international acts. The festival provides a musical experience like no other in Queensland.

Also, this year on the Sunday organisers Broadbeach Alliance will be asking for people to reach into
their pockets and donate to the very worthy Red Cross Myanmar appeal. Thousands have suffered
in Burma due to the devastating cyclone and every little bit of help is appreciated; volunteers will
be on the entry gates to the concert on the Sunday.
