For more than a decade, blues-rocker 8 Ball Aitken has toured the world – performing his swampy, slide guitar-driven songs at more than 200 gigs each year. This year, 8 Ball will return to Blues on Broadbeach for a highly energetic performance sure to get your foot stomping.
His live shows have rocked music festivals across the US, Australia, Europe, Canada, and Asia. Since relocating to Nashville in 2012 from his native Australia, he has honed his songwriting, guitar playing and showmanship with some of the best in the business today. With his 11th album, Swamp Blues 2, 8 Ball delves deeper into the Delta. It’s a groove-heavy, funkier follow-up to the success of last year’s Swamp Blues album release that hit #2 in the Australian Blues Charts and produced the 2019 APRA Song of the Year Shortlisted “High Water.” Swamp Blues 2 features 13 tracks with all the energy of his live performances. The album reached #2 in the Australian Blues Charts in March, 2020.
8 Ball has recorded three new albums during 2020 with Buddy Guy’s drummer Tom Hambridge. Set for release in 2021, the albums have been reviewed “A mixture of balladry, wordplay, and cutting edge guitar, Swamp Blues 2 from 8 Ball Aitken deserves to be in everyone’s collection”, American Blues Scene.
