Caiti Baker was raised on American blues and soul music and developed an obsessive love for R&B and hip-hop in her adolescence. She has been singing since she can remember and loves doing nothing more than creating and performing. This year, Caiti will be making her debut appearance on the Blues on Broadbeach stage! Caiti has always been difficult to place into a genre box. Her musical upbringing has given her the ability to shapeshift; she moves easily through the worlds of R&B, hip hop, pop, blues and country. Signed to the Darwin-based independent record label Settle Down Records, Caiti released her debut album ‘Zinc’ in 2017, followed by the three track ‘B6 EP’ in 2018. In 2019, Caiti released ‘Dust (Part 1)’, a four track EP with visual singles ‘Gone’ and ‘Gasoline’ created by award winning filmmaker Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore. Dust (Part 1) won the 2020 AIR Awards for best soul/R&B release. In 2020, amidst the global pandemic, Caiti released “Mary of the North”, a concept soundtrack album produced by long-time musical collaborator James Mangohig AKA Kuya James. The first single ‘Worth It’ features the women of Sector Four in the Darwin Correctional Centre and is the theme song for a podcast created by the same women called BIRDS EYE VIEW. Followed by “Green Eyes” and “Carry You”, Mary of the North is a well-crafted, vividly exciting, and enjoyable listen to accompany a movie yet to be created! Caiti spends time in Darwin as a Settle Down Sister with fellow label mates Serina Pech, Stevie Jean and Phoebe. Not just limited to signed artists, The Settle Down Sisters is a collective of women from a diverse range of backgrounds in the NT coming together with the common thread of voice, empowerment, laughter, and food.
