The award winning blues artist Dan Dinnen is teaming up with Anthony “Shorty” Shortte, one of the Australian Blues Scene’s most exciting and original drummer/percussionists, as they return to Blues on Broadbeach.

Dan Dinnen’s repertoire of original tunes range from smoking ballads, to pulsing, swampy juke joint grooves. His song-writing is built around his fingerpicking guitar and peppered with tasty harmonica playing. Shorty’s dynamic drum work fits Dan’s style like a well-worn glove. The result is a bluesy gumbo of rootsy goodness. A little bit delta swamp, a little bit hill country, a lot its own unique flavour.

“Dan Dinnen is one of the most authentic blues voices on the scene, but with an individual sound.”  – Helen Jennings, PBSfm.

Dan was the 2016 MBAS Blues Performer Of The Year (Solo/Duo Category), 2017 MBAS Artist Of The Year and a Semi-Finalist in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN. He is a Chain Award recipient (Group Of The Year 2016) for his vocals and harp playing with Greg Dodd & The Hoodoo Men.

Anthony “Shorty” Shortte is best known for his work with ARIA award winning blues act Collard Greens and Gravy. Shorty’s unique approach to the drum-kit helped to create a rolling, rollicking, juke-joint sound that captivated audiences at gigs and festivals around the country for 20 years.
