Mike Beale

When you watch Mike Beale play, you begin to understand what commitment to performance and live music really means. Mike’s energy, unique style and live performance has been instrumental in delivering his music to audiences in Australia and all over the world for many years. After seven years since his last Blues on Broadbeach appearance, Mike will be coming back to paradise in a long-awaited return.

Listening to his playing and singing you can hear he has been heavily influenced by late 60’s and early 70’s music. Early years in Fremantle, W.A. saw Mike release his debut album Breakaway. Mike spent the early 90’s playing throughout the east coast before forming the power trio called Men in Blues. The band released two albums, Drinking Overnight and Battered and Bruised, both well received and widely played in Europe. Mike’s original song “Lost” was the number one requested song on Belgium’s Midnight Blues Radio. During sessions for the third Men in Blues CD, Mike was offered an opportunity to sing on a Tribute album ‘A collection of Bob Dylan songs’. That record changed his musical approach to vocals, and the continued time in the studio also gave him the opportunity to record and release his first solo acoustic album ‘Short Stories’. The song ‘Fishbone’ taken from that record was a top ten finish in the Q Music Awards. In 2009, an introduction from guitar legend John Meyer had Mike and Perth Western Australian singer KNiKi team up for a series of east coast gigs, Festivals, and International appearances. From this The KNiKi + Mike Beale Project was born. Releasing two albums, the band also added their original music to movie soundtracks and toured extensively. In 2020, after returning to Queensland, Mike continues to have quite an active and dynamic career in music. Creating a new line up for the Mike Beale Band — and with a host of upcoming solo and band shows — audiences will be delivered a mixture of classic and original tunes. New recorded material is also in the works as well as a remaster of the original ‘Short Stories’ Album.
