Legendary Louisiana artist, Sunpie Barnes, and multi-award-winning Australian blues artist, Dom Turner, will take to the stage at Blues on Broadbeach. Sunpie Barnes pioneered a unique mixture of zydeco – an infectious créole musical style originating in Louisiana – and blues, gospel, jazz, and African and Afro-Caribbean music into a musical gumbo that he dubs “Afro-Louisiana” music. Dom Turner is best known as guitarist, lead vocalist, and founding member of the legendary Australian blues group, Backsliders, as well as many other international collaborations. Together, Sunpie and Dom will take audiences on an unforgettable zydeco-blues musical journey.
Blues on Broadbeach proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our events are held, the Kombumerri and Yugambeh Language Group families of the Gold Coast. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connections to the lands, waters, wildlife and extended communities throughout South East Queensland.
