The Cruel Sea’s unmistakable sound weaves gritty blues, swamp rock, and hypnotic grooves. Their 1993 ARIA-winning album The Honeymoon Is Over became a defining release, fusing Tex Perkins’ raw vocals with Tony Cohen’s atmospheric production. 30 years later, their dark, moody rhythms and timeless energy continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
Blues on Broadbeach proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our events are held, the Kombumerri and Yugambeh Language Group families of the Gold Coast. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connections to the lands, waters, wildlife and extended communities throughout South East Queensland.
