The straight talking, hip swinging, raw and raunchy blues of the Trombone Kellie Gang has proven to get the tiredest feet moving, and they aim to deliver during their first live performance at Blues on Broadbeach.
Fronted by the infamous Trombone Kellie, whose gutsy vocal delivery and roots blues trombone-playing feature alongside the ripping slide guitar of Scrubby Pete and the tasty rhythm section of Justin Pfeiffer (double bass) and Toby Baron (drums). This band have the perfect recipe for raucous Street Blues, made for the people and delivered with relish. They are Old School authentic yet exciting, fresh, and totally entertaining; featuring predominately Delta Swing and Country Blues styles, they’ve become a big hit with the Jazz & Blues clubs from the Northern Rivers to The Sunshine Coast. Trombone Kellie is a delightful and exciting new entertainer, with a totally captivating and enthralling stage presence. Kellie has an absolutely amazing capacity, switching from singing to blowing her trombone and back again without a break. She has arguably one of the most powerful female voices in the region today. Scrubby Pete plays white-hot guitar and sings. He has played various tunings on guitars since he was a child, with an untamed slide technique, channelling the blues legends like Kokomo Arnold, Blind Willie Johnson, Muddy Waters and Rockabilly greats like Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Scotty Moore. Toby Baron is a veteran drummer of the London Rock & Roll & Blues scene where he played with some of the UK’s finest blues musicians, his individual style has seen him working with a plethora of international artists including Ray Davies of The Kinks. Justin Pfeifer brings a driving force to the rhythm section on upright bass. Justin is an accomplished musician adept in an array of genres with a career spanning 40 years on bass guitar.
