Wazee Wa Kijiji

Wazee Wa Kijiji (pronounced wah-ZEH wah kee-JEE-jee—Swahili for “Village Elders”) are a powerful African music collective based in Brisbane, blending Congolese rumba, Afro-beats, highlife, and liberation-inspired rhythms into a sound that’s vibrant, spiritual, and deeply rooted. Formed by musicians and cultural leaders, their performances are rich with soaring vocals, intricate basslines, and dynamic percussion, celebrating Africa’s heartbeat while sharing stories of migration, resilience, and hope. After lighting up stages at Afrobeats Festival, Congolese Independence Festival, and From the Roots to the City, they bring their vibrant spirit to Blues on Broadbeach for a performance full of rhythm, soul, and celebration.
