Blues on Broadbeach is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 – it’s the festival’s 25th anniversary!

Over the last 25 years Blues on Broadbeach has created something special. It’s grown from humble beginnings to Australia’s largest blues music festival, attracting thousands of attendees from across Australia and internationally.

Over 650 incredible artists have played at Blues on Broadbeach over the years including Bonnie Tyler, Renee Geyer, Wiley Reed, Eli Paperboy Reed, Eric Bibb, Ian Moss and Tommy Emmanuel.  That’s quite a lineup! All these musicians and the crowds that come to see them are brought together by the love of live blues music and it’s a connection that runs deep. There’s a reason why some punters have been coming back year after year and why new fans are keen to experience it for themselves.

“Blues on Broadbeach is a special festival because it’s a bit like a family reunion or a tribal gathering. I think blues and roots music is a style of music that generates a real sense of community.” – Fiona Boyes, Artist

There aren’t many other places in the world where you’ll find a blues festival by the beach. With outdoor stages in shady parks and on the streets, festival attendees can stroll from stage to stage, listening to world-class live music in the sunshine and under the stars.

The program spans four jam-packed days of festival vibes and a smorgasbord of amazing live music, from intimate acoustic performances to the full main stage energy at Kurrawa Park, with electrifying headline acts and thousands of blues fans feeling the love.

“A lot of people meet here every year with their friends, get a nice hotel room, go to restaurants and go from gig to gig and see all your mates. You can really feel the love of the blues and the love of each other.” – 8 Ball Aitken

To commemorate the Blues on Broadbeach legacy, we’ve created a short video series that takes a look at how far the festival has come, what makes it so special and how much it means to blues fans, artists and the local community. In it, you’ll see musicians who’ve played at Blues on Broadbeach sharing memories and highlights, longtime fans speaking on what they love most about the event and archival footage of festivals past.

Festival favourites including Fiona Boyes, Hussy Hicks, Lachy Doley, 8 Ball Aitken, Angela Fabian and more feature in the video, and Festival Director, Mark Duckworth shares his vision for the future of Blues on Broadbeach.

Just like the festival itself, this video is all about the music, the people, the experience and the authentic connection, joy and community blues music can create. It’s a nod to the fans for supporting and celebrating Blues on Broadbeach for 25 years. Thank you!
